PM KP Sharma Oli Leaves for China to Attend SCO Summit

Kathmandu: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli departed for China today (Friday) at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping. Leading a 23-member Nepali delegation, Oli is set to participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit in Tianjin.
Deputy Prime Minister Prakash Man Singh, Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba, and other senior officials bid him farewell at the VIP lounge of Tribhuvan International Airport. Before departure, a Nepali Army contingent presented the Prime Minister with a guard of honour.
Key Events of the Visit
September 1: PM Oli will address the SCO Summit in Tianjin and meet Chinese President Xi Jinping.
September 2: He is scheduled to meet Chinese Vice President Han Zheng in Beijing.
September 3: Oli will attend the 80th anniversary commemoration program in Beijing.
Bilateral Meetings with Global Leaders
During his visit, Oli will also hold bilateral talks with several leaders, including Russian President Vladimir Putin, Maldives President Dr. Mohamed Mizzou, Cambodian Prime Minister Dr. Somdek Moha Borvor Tipahde Hun Mahanet, Lao Prime Minister Soesai Siphandon, and Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Ching.
Nepal’s Role in SCO and Delegation Details
Nepal has been a dialogue partner of the SCO since 2016. Oli is accompanied by his wife Radhika Shakya, Education Minister Raghuji Pant, Tourism Minister Badri Prasad Pandey, Nepali Congress MP Purna Bahadur Khadka, and other senior officials.
